Decision and Control

The Decision and Control sub-area is responsible for a set of disciplines covering four main topics:

  • The Signals and Systems area presents the fundamental concepts and tools for understanding and analyzing the dynamic behavior of engineering systems (electrical and energy distribution circuits, engines, vehicles and their components are just a few examples).

  • In Control Theory, aspects related to the analysis, design and realization of systems with feedback are studied, namely stability, performance, analog and computer implementation of control systems.

  • The Decision and Automation areas are concerned with the integration of components and subsystems in more complex systems, their operation and coordination. They include the disciplines Intelligent Control, Decision Systems, Power Control, Control Technology, Systems Simulation.
